No, it serves a different purpose. Zadara Storage is customer-controlled, primary block and file storage located in the same Cloud as--and connected to--your application servers. It is designed to be local to your cloud servers to provide maximum performance and minimum latency.
Zadara Storage is actively working to expand its presence. To help us progress rapidly, please ask your provider to contact Zadara Storage directly.
Zadara Storage uses multiple layers of security to provide data privacy and isolation. Among the techniques we use are isolation of hardware resources (CPU, memory, network and drives) as well as in-flight and at-rest encryption of Zadara VPSA™ volumes, where the user is in charge of the password for the encryption key.
Unlike traditional SAN and NAS arrays, Zadara Storage is designed from the ground up for the Cloud. Among other things, this means that Zadara Storage is designed for full performance isolation among users (where any one customer cannot affect the experience of any other customer), and for self-service (where cloud users own the management of their Virtual Private Storage Arrays™, aka VPSAs).
Zadara Storage provides block and file interfaces via iSCSI and NFS, respectively. Block provides the highest-performance, lowest-latency volumes to cloud servers. And both block and file are the types of storage which popular Enterprise applications like Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint expect.
Zadara Storage offers many features not present in EBS. Such features include full drive allocation for consistent performance, the ability to select different types of drives (SSD, SAS 15K RPM, etc.), the ability to choose RAID levels and stripe sizes, sharing of volumes among multiple cloud servers, NFS file access, and data-at-rest encryption. All of these features are selectable and controlled by the end-customer through a web-based interface.
Yes. Zadara Storage offers multiple layers of reliability to provide Enterprise-class availability. Because Zadara Storage is designed from the ground up for the Cloud, it is able to compensate for the loss of both servers and drives. Customers can select the level of protection they want, based on their budget and the availability they need.
Zadara Storage is metered hourly based on two types of options:
Yes. Zadara Storage offers 24x7 support to its customers and a customer support portal integrated into the product.
Zadara Storage plans to offer snapshots and mirroring (including long-distance mirroring for Disaster Recovery) in the near future.
Yes. This is an important Enterprise-class feature. Zadara Storage allows the mapping of a single volume to multiple cloud servers, for the purpose of application clustering.
We are hypervisor agnostic and support any OS which supports iSCSI initiators and/or NFS. This includes Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Linux 2.6 kernel and later, and others.
Yes, we offer a one week trial Baby VPSA with three drives, completely free of charge (no credit card needed).
The answer is service provider specific. Most service providers allow you to back up data from within your Cloud servers to object storage.
